CNC Lathe Machinist

The Role: The objective of this role is to help make Faith Manufacturing operations run efficiently. This individual should have the ability to work as a team, make decisions about the parts they are handling, and work closely with their supervisor to ensure the proper handling of parts and job duties. Being a friendly, self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills is necessary for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Producing machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) mill machine; maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Keep records, maintaining equipment and supplies
  • Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters
  • Interprets geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
  • Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments
  • Program mills by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches
  • Calculates requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry, proving part programs
  • Set-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads and maintaining specifications
  • Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, adhering to international standards
  • Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations
  • Take measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools
  • Adheres to quality assurance procedures and processes
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • In any environment, always follow safety standards and wear proper protective gear
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions
  • Check for safety hazards; call for repairs
  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs

Essential Duties:

  • Maintain production efficiency levels
  • Must be able to understand basic CNC machines
  • Edit programs for speed and feed Operate CL machines
  • Must support other operators
  • Must understand customer’s detailed drawings and notify engineers of capability issues
  • Communicate, support, and reinforce the values of the organization professionally.
  • Work in a team environment and be supportive of all company initiatives
  • Maintain a safe and organized work area
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Numerical control machining skills experience.
  • Between 1 + years CNC machine tool Programming & Operating experience
  • Must be safety minded and be able to follow safety guidelines
  • Must be able to adhere to company policies and procedures
  • Ability to communicate with people and follow verbal and written instructions
